WHAT TO EXPECT
Classes are made up from mixed ability students, where white belts (beginners) get a chance to train with the more experienced BJJ practitioners: blue, purple, brown and black belts. Everyone trains together and classes cover a range of fundamental techniques to more advanced positions.
Classes are 90-minutes in duration consisting of:
Warm up – Prepare body for drilling, isolation (positional development sparring) and sparing.
Drilling – Practising techniques with a compliant partner in various areas of BJJ such as takedowns and takedown defence, control positions, sweeps, guard passes, submissions including strangles and chokeholds, as well as joint-locks.
Sparring (always in a controlled manner) – The objective is to force your training partner to give up (by submitting or tapping or out). In specific sparring, instruction would be given.
